Neighborhood Meet-and-Greet

Lea Thullbery, manager of Finnigan’s Wake, has extended an invitation to representatives of the various businesses on Trade Street to a get-together on Wednesday, August 7th, at 5:00pm, for free refreshments and dialogue. Finnigan’s has recently assumed more responsibility for street closings for the various events on Trade Street.  They are paying for the permit, the barricades, the off-duty police officers, and liability insurance.  With the growing popularity of our street as a venue for events by outside organizations, Finnigan’s feels it is important that someone here on Trade Street have control of the off-duty police officers, vendors, etc., to insure Continue reading

Heavy Rebel Car and Bike Show

P1190193

Finnigan’s Wake just posted this on Facebook. I couldn’t have said it any better. I’m not a car person particularly, but there is plenty of artistic inspiration here in all the shapes and colors and trimmings of these vintage vehicles. Saturday on Trade St. is the 13th Annual Heavy Rebel Weekender car and bike show. It runs from 10AM-5PM. If you’ve come before you remember how fun it is. If you’re a newbie get ready to have your mind AND eyes blown. Last year had over 500 entries. If it was built in 1968 or before you’ll see it here. Continue reading

Blue Moon Gallery Hop is Friday May 10th

Why Blue Moon Gallery Hop? It has nothing to do with the lunar cycle. DADA holds a Gallery Hop on the First Friday of every month, all year ’round. We had a great hop last week during Habitat for Humanity’s BirdFest. The upcoming weekend is the Centennial Celebration in honor of the merging of the towns Winston and Salem to form Winston-Salem. The Celebration planners wanted to hold a special Gallery Hop on Friday during the celebration weekend (May 9-12). Which makes 2 Gallery Hops in one month, which happens once in a Blue Moon. So now you get it. Continue reading
