Heavy Rebel Weekender is an annual event, and it happens this weekend, July 4-6, 2014.
While much of the activity takes place at the Millennium Center, Trade Street and Arts District denizens should know that Saturday, July 5th is the annual Car Show, a showcase of vintage cars and bikes. This event is HUGE and it gets bigger every year.
Businesses and visitors alike should take note of the street closing schedule. Finnigan’s Wake holds the permit for the street closings, which includes putting the barricades up and arranging off-duty police officers to provide security.
The barricades will be in place by 6:00 AM at the intersection of Trade and 7th Street, and for the 6th and 7th Street blocks between Cherry and Liberty Streets. The street closing also includes the 600 block of Liberty Street, which will be closed at 9:00 AM.
Finnigan’s Wake customers should note that they will have access to the parking lot between Miller’s and SilverMoon. 6th and Vine customers will be able to park in the lot between Cherry and Marshall Streets, one block away just north of 6th Street. The Cherry Street parking deck next to the Benton Convention Center will also be accessible.
The car show lasts until 4:00 PM. Most of the street barricades will remain in place, however, for the Summer on Trade Music series. The stage set-up at the 6th and Trade intersection begins around 5:30 PM. Music starts at 7:00 PM and continues till 10:00 PM.
The Car Show and Summer on Trade are both free to the public.
If you are still in a party mood at 10:00 PM, you’ll find live music at several venues in the neighborhood, including Finnigan’s Wake, 6th & Vine, The Garage, and Ziggy’s.
Top off your weekend with Sunday Brunch at Finnigan’s, 6th & Vine, Mary’s Gourmet Diner, or Sweet Potatoes. Check their websites for hours.
