Today’s edition of the Journal ran a front-page story about snow removal in Winston-Salem. The City of Winston-Salem apparently thinks they are finished and are patting themselves on the back for doing such a great job.
I beg to differ. Here are photos I took early this afternoon of the 500 and 600 blocks of Trade Street:
First photo shows 6th Street. The City shoveled away the snow at the southeast corner of 6th and Trade Sts.
The 500 and 600 blocks of Trade Street had very few cars parked along the street on Sunday night, making it a good time for them to complete the snow removal from the street. There was still quite a bit of snow on the south side of the street blocking parking spaces in front of businesses.
The rest of the photos show the piles of snow that have not been removed from the 500 and 600 blocks of Trade Street. The west side of the street does not get the benefit of the afternoon sun, so it takes much longer to melt than snow on the other side of the street.
