January 2018 Update

Greetings, It has been a long time since I updated this site. The truth of the matter is that Trade Street and its environs have experienced such exponential growth in the past 2 years that it is a daunting task to even attempt to keep up with it. But I will make an attempt to bring this site up to date.  It will take time, however. All I can say is I’ll do the best I can. Trade Street Tracker applauds the effort the City of WS has taken to oppose the controversial HB2 Bill This bill, commonly known as the “bathroom bill,” goes far beyond bathroom issues. It affects the civil rights of the entire LGBT community as it takes away LGBTs’ rights to sue a company that refuses them a  job or service based on gender identity. The fallout from the passage of this unfortunate law continues to grow with more companies and entertainers taking a stand to oppose the legislation through boycotts, petitions and such. ARTivity on the Green Grand Opening

WS’s first ART Park Grand Opening and Dedication Celebration is Saturday, May 9th.   Location: Liberty Street between 6th & 7th in Winston-Salem This is Winston-Salem’s first and only “Art Park” created with private funds through AFAS – Art for Art’s Sake. Saturday’s Grand Opening schedule: 8:00 AM Mural Painting by 11 Artists begins. 1:00 PM  Gates open!! Food Trucks on Liberty. Art-o-Mat Works and The Little Things

Delurk Gallery is hosting a Sunday afternoon gathering to talk about Art and Art-o-mat® – Don’t Go ‘Round Artless! with Clark Whittington. We will have snacks and Clark will be here to share the bigger vision of Art-o-Mat and meet more of the artists participating in this years show “The Little Things” at Delurk Gallery. The BIG EAT Returns!

Back for its seventh year, the Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership and participating downtown restaurants are proud to present the return of “The Big Eat.” Every Tuesday night, beginning January 6 until January 27, more than 30 great downtown restaurants will offer 50 percent discounts off of their signature dishes. There has been such a positive response to the Big Eat promotion since its inception 2009, that it was a no-brainer to bring back the event in 2015. ARTivity on the Green

ARTivity on the Green, a Public Art Initiative of the AFAS Group Construction is in progress at ARTivity on the Green! The city’s first public art park is located on Liberty Street near 7th Street. The park will serve as a link between the Downtown Arts District and the Innovation Quarter. Plus, it will encourage further development in the 500 and 600 blocks of Liberty Street.
