Heavy Rebel Weekender is an annual event, and it happens this weekend, July 4-6, 2014. While much of the activity takes place at the Millennium Center, Trade Street and Arts District denizens should know that Saturday, July 5th is the annual Car Show, a showcase of vintage cars and bikes. This event is HUGE and it gets bigger every year. Businesses and visitors alike should take note of the street closing schedule. Wowie Zowie! The first two Summer on Trade concerts have attracted HUGE crowds of people! It’s just wonderful to see so many people on Trade Street. The shops and galleries that have been open during the evening hours have benefitted as well. Well deserved thanks already to those responsible: The Downtown Winston-Salem Partnership and corporate sponsors Truliant Federal Credit Union et al. And you’ve got to give a lot of credit to Street Feat Productions for the outstanding work they do with the stage and sound set-up. Finnigan’s Wake just posted this on Facebook. I couldn’t have said it any better. I’m not a car person particularly, but there is plenty of artistic inspiration here in all the shapes and colors and trimmings of these vintage vehicles. Saturday on Trade St. is the 13th Annual Heavy Rebel Weekender car and bike show. It runs from 10AM-5PM. If you’ve come before you remember how fun it is.
